Tommaso Cavazza visits the IMP

16 Apr 2026

This week Tommaso Cavazza visited the IMP to share his research on how embryos react to DNA damage. Tommaso’s lab in Zurich studies the mechanisms of parental genome unification during the very first stages of embryonic development. He gave a great talk, showing us how his lab uses bovine embryos to model these early steps of development. His vision is to provide mechanistic insights into how the zygote coordinates successful integration of both parental genomes, thereby contributing to our understanding of the infamously high failure rates of early development in humans. His visit was rounded off by a dinner with Wiener Schnitzel with members of the Pauli lab. Thank you for visiting us in Vienna!
