Anastasia's paper out on mitochondrial regulation during embryonic development!
28 Jul 2026
Congratulations to Anastasia whose paper on mitochondrial regulation during early embryogenesis just got published in CellReports! Have you ever wondered how the powerhouse of the cell is regulated at the start of life? Using zebrafish embryos, her work showed that increased mitochondrial activity is linked to changes in mitochondrial morphology and an increase in mitochondrial-ER contacts - and not as we initially expected by an increase in OXPHOS components (they are there all the time!). Big congratulations to Anastasia for leading this project as well as all co-authors and collaborators.
Follow the link to the paper to find out more and admire the microscopy images showing mitochondrial morphology changes.
