European Zebrafish Meeting in Vienna
11 Jul 2026
It was a busy week in the Pauli lab with the [European Zebrafish Society meeting] (https://www.ezm2026.org/) happening in Vienna! More than 500 (not only zebra-)fish researchers from all over the world gathered in Vienna for five days to discuss science, exchange ideas and make new connections. It was especially wonderful to see so many old friends from the Marine Biological Laboratory Woods Hole Zebrafish course - from student alumni, current & former faculty to TAs. The conference came to a phenomenal end at the conference party in the Ballroom of the Vienna City Hall, with Ezra displaying his DJing skills.
A big thank you to the conference organizers Stefan Schulte-Merker, Andi Pauli, Diana Pinheiro, Carl-Philipp Heisenberg, Máte Varga, and Przemko Tylzanowski as well as the WMA (Wiener Medizinische Agentur) for working together for over a year to organize this incredible meeting, plus to all volunteers from our Heisenberg, Pinheiro & Pauli labs for helping! A particular shout-out to Ezra for getting everyone on the dance floor and Theresa for the wonderful Klimt-fish T-shirt design, which turned out to be a real hit!
